I’ve been following Robert Phoenix’s work for awhile, but not until recently did I commission him to cast his perceptions upon my astrological chart. This blog post is a review of Robert’s services as a practitioner of astrology.

All outside opinions can be catalysts – but I found Robert’s view to be particularly kindle-worthy. In other words, his insight is motivating. Inspirational fuel. That’s what a catalyst does…affects the molecular structure of a thing just by introducing itself to the mix. Indeed, Mr. Phoenix’s astrological reading was impactful and affecting.
I appreciated Robert’s ability to express his opinions candidly. He was straight-forward and delivered his perceptions without apology. Honesty is vital in these scenarios – beating around the bush has no place in interpretations and I value Robert’s candor.
What’s more, Robert is a perfect blend of mystic and pragmatist. He extolled ethereal/esoteric wisdom with aplumb and ease. With the same easy charm he offered practical advice that played with my astrological proclivities.

I get many questions about name number meanings. I’ve offered a lot of thoughts about this and the topic of symbolic numbers in general.

What is the impact if we take a different name? What if we have a nickname? How do we interpret the numerological meaning of our “real” name in relation to our adopted/married/nickname etc?
Traditionally, numerologists recommend using the name with which we are most familiar.
When dealing with several names to uncover meaning with numerology, I conduct readings on both names.
Why? Because I know nothing happens without some deeper reasoning. Ergo, I know significant numerological meanings can be found in both names.
When I play around with name number symbolism, I’ll first ask for the name most used or common. For example, a friend of mine has been called “Butch” for 40 years. I interpreted his nickname first as his primary reading.
But, I’ll almost always do a second reading with a formal (less familiar) name too. I’ve encountered doing this gives an added layer of clarity. It’s almost like revealing two different personalities:
a side we show to everyone, and
another side we keep more private.
If you have several names here’s a way to interpret your name number meaning…
Common Name: Determine your number according to the name you are most comfortable/familiar with. This could be your nickname, birth name, whatever. This is the name you call yourself (and likely the name most of your friends/family know you by too).
The number associated with the name you are most intimate with will be metaphoric of your intimate path in life. This number will speak to you about:
what is close to your heart,
what you comfortably show, share and express with others
how your common, daily life experience is unfolding
how you connect & interact in family and social settings
Other Name: Now determine the number for the name that is not as familiar to you as your common name. Perhaps it’s a newly discovered adopted name, or a change from maiden name to married name – or perhaps you’ve taken an assumed name. The name number meaning associated with this newer name in your awareness could potentially reveal:
long term views or focus in personal development
the hand of fate or destiny playing a role in your life
internal or hidden sides of personality – traits not likely expressed outwardly
a persona you want to express, but has been latent (or is not yet comfortable to reveal to others)
Important note: Be mindful of how you feel about this secondary name. Is there joy surrounding the less familiar name? Did you pick it yourself and love it? Your feelings associated with your names (both common and uncommon) will affect your name number interpretation too.
I’ve known people who had names divinely spoken to their psyche – these are spiritual names that belonged to these people even before they were born into this lifetime/place. In this instance, that name is going to have a wholly different meaning in numerology.
This brings me to a final important point. It’s a good practice to combine your name number meanings.
For example, if your familiar name-number is a 2 and your married name-number is 7, combine these two numbers to make 9 and begin to research the conjoined symbolism from there.
Overwhelmingly, I’ve found combining these name numbers to be extremely enlightening as to my client’s personality, personal development and multi-dimensional progress.

There is a time and a place for intuitive & Tarot readings. To be sure, psychics, Taroists and other intuitive practitioners can certainly offer extreme value to seekers and questioners.

Why the choice?
In spite of my continual admonishment that oracles are guides, not the path to Light – I still sensed the message was left unheard. So, by continuing to offer Tarot readings, I felt like I was feeding an unhealthy dependency.
The Light is within, not without. The Clarity is internal, not external. The Answers are…well, you get the idea.
This is a sign of the times.
More and more each of us must rely on our own souls, hearts, minds, beliefs, intuition, etc. The more we externally seek out satisfaction – the further away we move from our potential divinity.
“Temet nosce” (know thyself).
This is not to say I have parted from the Tarot path. Quite the contrary as I am still a devotee of Tarot wisdom, and shall continue to build on the premise that the Tarot is a magnificent tool for personal/soul development via my Tarot website: www.TarotTeachings.com
But the impressions, revelations and messages I’m getting are clear: Serving as a reader is counterproductive to the current paradigm.
What am I doing now?
I surf the cosmos gathering glimmery bits of bright inspiration
I convert these bits in some sort of useable format, adding my own spin & flavor
I send them back out into the cosmic seas, messages in buoyant bottles, gift wrapped with high anticipation
I observe who picks these perspectives up, who shakes out the oracles, and who weaves personal understanding between the lines
I remain vigilant, expressing in as many ways possible the variable paths to self-empowerment & personal illumination

I see crossroads, and thus I’m compelled to explore the symbolic meaning of crossroads.
When I see them, Eric Clapton’s voice and ax come cutting through my mind with “Crossroads,” and I wonder what prompts the passage “fall down on my knees and ask the Lord for mercy please” in the song.
Of course, my ruminations produce some symbolic thoughts on this….
Crossroads (the intersection of four roads to make it simple for this post) were considered significant markers for supernatural or non-local activity. In other words, reports of seeing ghosts, apparitions, spectres at crossroads count up into the thousands.
Primitive South American cultures such as Aztec, Mayan, and some southern North American Indian tribes used crossroads as a place of sacrifice. Alters, or totem-like poles would be erected at these locations to indicate hallowed ground.
Early Europeans used to bury criminals and suicide victims at crossroads with the thought that when their spirit rose from the dead, they would be confused and return from whence they came and leave the living undisturbed by their presence.
Crossroads are often situated on top of natural ley lines which are intersections of high energetic vibrations from the earth and its atmosphere. These high voltage spots are often blamed for car accidents at intersections.
Perhaps these ley lands attracted witches as it is reputed they would secretly meet at crossroads to conduct coven work. Then again, maybe the witch association came from Hekate (Hecate), the Greek goddess of sorcery, who was said to appear at earthly crossroads with baying wolf-hounds at her side.
Hermes, son of Zeus, was also reputed to hang out at crossroads. In fact, statues called herms were erected at crossroads as Hermes represented one of the gods of travel (particularly commerce/trade roads) to the Greeks.
It is fabled that if you simply must make a deal with the devil, do so at the crossroads because you have four times better chance of outrunning devilish clutches with a choice of four roads (I guess the devil can’t predict which road you’ll choose).
Dreaming of crossroads may be symbolic of confusion, and not being able to see our way clear of a solution to a problem. It may also be a portent of many opportunities on the horizon for us.
Setting superstitions aside, I have to answer my deeper ruminations about crossroads thusly…
Ultimately, the symbolic meaning of crossroads deals with choice, consequence, making a selection about the direction in which we want to go (both physically and philosophically). Furthermore, my visions of standing at the center of a crossroads speaks of being poised in a position of pure potential. Suspended upon a vortex of power – and that begs the question from me “in what direction shall I navigate that power?”
For many of us, being in a position of power requires taking a stand for what we believe, even when we do not know what we will encounter upon the road we have chosen.
If we can’t make that stand it’s sometimes helpful to think of the symbolic meaning of crossroads in terms of the equal-armed cross which I’ve written about here. I rather like the mental picture of four in-roads leading to our hearts with each protrusion representing four perspective beatitudesof the cross:
Nature
Self
Knowledge
God
That’s the kind of power I’m talking about. That’s the kind of capacity for soul-quaking, paradigm shifting I’m alluding to.
In the combining of these four sacred concepts we meet in the middle – the center – which is both the beginning and ending. No choice in direction need be made when we seat ourselves in this kind of navigational setting. We merely wait for the roads to come to us.
