It would be like calling somebody &quot;a Christianity&quot;. Also, you&#039;ve misspelled &#039;torii&#039;; the double &#039;i&#039; indicates that the vowel is pronounced long.

Good on you, though, for recommending that your questioner actually learn about Shinto and not just randomly use the symbols, without understanding the meaning.</description>
